Are You Trying to Decorate a House That Isn’t Built Yet?
A lot of people approach health and fitness the same way they’d NEVER build a house.
They start with the finishing touches.
They worry about the paint color, the furniture, the decor…
But they haven’t even poured the foundation.
That’s exactly what happens when you focus on things like vibration plates, supplement stacking, “cortisol face”, or seed oils, before handling the basics.
The foundation has to come first.
The Foundation:
At Fit One Five, we focus on building your foundation first, the habits that actually support results long-term.
These are your Big 5:
1. Walking (Daily Movement)
This is your base level of activity.
Walking supports:
- Calorie burn
- Recovery
- Stress management
It’s simple, but incredibly effective!
5 minute break at work? Walk around the office once. Finding these small pockets of time to get steps in will add up!
Aim for 6k-10k steps a day (dependent on current activity level)!
2. Water (Hydration)
Hydration impacts everything:
- Energy
- Hunger
- Performance
If this is off, everything feels harder.
Aim for 0.7 oz per lb of bodyweight.
3. Sleep
Sleep is your recovery system.
Without it:
- Fat loss slows down
- Cravings increase due to hunger hormones being thrown off
- Energy drops (aka being cranky)
You can’t build ANYTHING on a weak foundation.
7-9 hours a night!!
4. Resistance Training
This is what builds strength, muscle, and metabolism.
It helps you:
- Have the “defined” muscles you are looking for
- Burn more calories at rest
- Stay strong long-term
Resistance train 2-3 times per week with a structured plan! We help you with the “structure” part 🙂
5. Real Food (Nutrition Basics)
Not perfection, just consistency.
Focusing on:
- Protein (0.7-1g per lb body weight)
- Whole foods (things that grew on a tree, came from the ground, or had a mom and dad)
- Balanced meals
- Fiber (25g-34g, depending on gender)
This is what fuels your body and supports everything else.
The “Furniture”:
Now this is where most people start.
They focus on:
- Supplements
- Cortisol focus
- Lymphatic drainage
- Seed oils
- Detoxes
- Meal timing focus
- Fasting
These are like:
- Picking out a couch
- Choosing paint colors
- Buying decor
Do they matter?
Sure they can be beneficial…once the house is built!
Why Most People Feel Stuck
If your “house” doesn’t have a solid foundation…
It doesn’t matter how nice the furniture is.
If you’re:
- Sleeping 5–6 hours
- Not moving much
- Inconsistent with workouts
- Eating mostly processed foods
Then focusing on small details won’t move the needle.
Because the structure isn’t there yet.
What This Looks Like at Fit One Five
We see this ALL the time.
Someone comes in asking about:
- The best supplements
- Their Cortisol “routine”
- What foods to eliminate
But when we take a step back, the foundation isn’t there yet.
So we simplify.
We focus on building the house first.
And once that’s solid?
Then, and only then, do the smaller details start to matter.
